San Bruno to Receive County Grant to Improve City Park Grandstand
REDWOOD CITY – Today, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors approved a grant for $150,000 from Measure K funds for improvements to the grandstand and concession facilities at Tom Lara Field in San Bruno City Park.
“The venerable Tom Lara Field is a local community treasure enjoyed by generations of San Bruno and area residents alike,” said Supervisor Pine. “Investing in the grandstand and concession facilities is long overdue and will enhance the park experience for all.”
The City of San Bruno is partnering with the San Bruno Lions Club to rehabilitate the concession stand that is located within the Tom Lara Field Grandstand in San Bruno City Park, a well-used and treasured community recreation facility. San Bruno City Park includes three baseball/softball fields, four tennis courts, a soccer field, a walking trail, thirteen BBQ picnic sites, multiple play structures, a pool facility, and a recreation center. San Bruno City Park serves hundreds of patrons daily.
In preparation for upgrading the concession stand that is located within the Grandstand, it was determined that improvements to Grandstand are also required due largely to its age and continued use. These improvements include repairs to the roof and concrete sidewalls of the Grandstand to eliminate water intrusion, replacement of doors and windows, and the installation of new bleachers.
Measure K is a 20-year extension of the countywide half-cent sales tax passed by local voters in November 2016 to support essential County services and to maintain or replace critical facilities.
