Supervisor Slocum in his office

Supervisor Warren Slocum was appointed to represent the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors on the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, or MTC, to fill the seat vacated by outgoing Supervisor Adrienne Tissier. The Metropolitan Transportation Commission is the transportation planning, financing and coordinating agency for the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area.

MTC collaborates with a network of other public agencies to help support the streets, roads, highways, transit systems and other transportation resources that help millions of people get to where they need to be. In San Mateo County, that means SamTrans, CalTrain, Redi-Wheels and other paratransit features, Caltrans-District 4, the San Mateo Bridge (thin FasTrak), the Dumbarton Bridge, and the connections that commuters make to other transit systems in other counties. Think BART, the ferries, miles of bike paths, freeway conditions, commute times, and more.

"As a member of the Board of Supervisors, transportation is one of my top three priorities. I welcome this appointment to represent San Mateo County at the regional transportation table," said Slocum.  "Keeping our transportation network strong and functional is critical to the economic vitality of the region, the health of our environment and the quality of life for all residents."
