One of the aspects I enjoy the most as District 4 Supervisor is engaging with the community and listening to the voices of all residents.
Recently, I had the idea of creating a series of several different informal “Community Conversations” on hot topics that impact District 4 residents. My goal is to build community and share resources with our residents. The first Community Conversation was on Cannabis and it was a total success with 35 attendees!
We invited a panel of experts to talk about the community impacts of legalize cannabis and to hear from the community. The experts included: Brian Kulich, from San Mateo County Counsel; Edith Cabuslay, from the Health System; Heather Forshey, from Environmental Health; Deputies Gabe Huerta and John Sabel, from the Sheriff’s Office, and Catherine Ralston, with the city of Redwood City.
Community residents had a productive dialogue with the panel regarding Cannabis while enjoying delicious food meal. Great questions came up on cannabis regulation, cultivation, and tax. To view the notes on the first Community Conversation please see the attachment.
More Community Conversations to come!
