  • As part of June's 2017 Black History Year, Robert Hoover, a fixture in East Palo Alto, California, shared his story about growing up in the 1930’s in the South. He asked that we recognize how people of color have struggled just to be included in American history, citing Jackie Robinson and the true heroines behind the movie Hidden Figures as role models who's triumphs are often overlooked.

Mr. Hoover himself is one who should be written about as a living legend. From his committment to teaching golf to local youth to his work with students at risk of not graduating from high school, he has served District 4 with courage and strength.

Supervisor Slocum thanks Robert Hoover with a Warren Award!
