  • What makes an organization a great partner? It's not just doing the job well – it’s doing it well and in collaboration with the community. Recology is a great partner and it is for that reason that they receive this Warren Award.

Recology certainly does the job well. Since 2011, Recology San Mateo County performed over 4800 waste audits, resulting in a 38.8% increase in recycling diversion and a 34.9% increase in organics diversion. In other words, Recology collected 17 thousand tons more of recyclables and 38 thousand tons more of organic waste!

Equally important, Recology is an amazing collaborator with the community. Last week, 120 volunteers from Recology facilities around Northern California spent their morning at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park in East Palo Alto. Some volunteers drove all the way from Chico just to give back and help our community! They painted picnic tables, gardened, and generally made the park more inviting for children to play.

And, the volunteer day at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park is just the tip of the iceberg. In 2013 and 2014, roughly 1200 Recology employees in California, Oregon, and Washington participated in 34 volunteer events, committing over 8,000 hours of work.

Thank you, Recology! You are truly a great partner!
